In
this 2 Day
workshop, Heidi will impart lots and lots of
encaustic techniques as well as share her unique approach to the art of
encaustic painting. This is by far the best
value, because lots of practical information is provided for a nominal fee.
(See workshop feedback given by former attendees)
Heidi will encourage students to learn & experiment
with a vast variety of encaustic techniques, creating sample boards and
"masterpieces" which they
will take home for future reference.
Heidi has written a detailed encaustic
handbook which is only provided in the 2 day workshop. It contains technical info, thorough supplier and material lists, safety
precautions, procedures, and a "sticker approach" to note taking which she
developed. This handbook enables the student to focus on painting and having
fun, instead of taking notes!
As well as completing 4-10 pieces of
art, students will walk away with all the knowledge needed to embark on their
encaustic journey! This workshop also includes 1 hour of post workshop phone/email
support as students begin working independently in their own studios at home.
Attendance is limited to
only 4 students for plenty of individualized attention &
work space. All students will work with a personal hot plate so they don't have
to share pigment palettes.
Students may bring personal materials such as
photography, paintings, collage materials, carving implements, and wooden
supports. These materials however will only supplement supplies that will
already be provided.
*Continuing students who have
already taken Heidi's 2 day workshop are encouraged to jump in again and
again at a reduced cost of $200. Continuing students are encouraged to
work more independently with Heidi, hone in their skills, brush up on
techniques that they didn't have time to absorb the first time around, or
simply take advantage of the encaustic studio and materials.

History of Encaustic Painting, Review of basic materials, General Overview of the encaustic process, Encaustic Safety for people and art
